Failure is Not an Option

Usually when we think of this phrase, Failure is not an option, we are demanding success at any cost.  Such an expectation is unrealistic, there are simply too many variables and, likely, so very few of those variables that we can actually control.  So, how can we ever say that failure is not [...]

Day 2 Lunch Time

While practicing this morning, I allowed myself to not push, to not force the poses.  That had to be one of the most intense, in every way, practices I’ve ever had.

We also met with Gurudev (Amrit Desai) this morning.  What a delightful man he is!  Our difficulties come in want/expecting things [...]

End of Day 1

What a day!  Some quick highlights and then I’m off to bed:

Today was only a half day officially but I was able to join in with the staff and residents in morning sadhana.  It was at once invigorating and very relaxing, what a great way to start the day!  I had free [...]

Morning Practice

Just retruned from morning practice.  Very relaxing and a great way to start the day.  It’s good to be a student, not having to be concerned with what posture is next, not having to watch how the group is moving.  It’s good to be able to just center, relax and just be.

Arrival

The flights were long and tedious but well worth what I’ve found here.  The staff is welcoming and full of love and concern that everything be just perfect.  I’m staying in Gurudev’s actual home, silence is the rule when in the house.  I’ve just returned from a Yoga Nidra session led by Charlotte [...]

Teacher Training

In 9 hours, my flight will take off for Florida where I will be spending the next 10 days in part I of an intensive teacher training course.  If I have the access I will need, I will post updates here on my blog each day to keep you up to date on how [...]

Quick Note

There has been some concern about having to open a Facebook account to actually view my teacher update page linked in the left side bar.  I specifically set that page to be completely public.  That means that whether you have a Facebook account or not, you can click my mug on the left [...]

Updates

I’ve been wondering how to make updates about how my training is going.  I can’t do it here via my blog because I do not believe I’ll have full Internet access while I’m away.  However, I will have access to a web browser so I will have access to Facebook.  When I realized [...]

Certification Programs

After class last night, one of my students asked about teacher certification.  The first thing to realize is that there is no single Yoga authority that certifies teaching programs nor instructors.  Some might claim that Yoga Alliance is the central authority on such certifications but that simply is not the case, Yoga Alliance is [...]
